This year Team Silent Hunter headed out into the deep in search of the heaviest dolphin they could find. The reason, of course, being the California Wine Club’s 6th Annual Mother’s Day Dolphin Tournament benefiting Habitat for Humanity of the Middle Keys. All of the money raised went toward building new houses for those in need this year.
It was a gorgeous day from the start, and the fishing – at least for Team Silent Hunter – was spectacular!
After the tournament, the weighing and the judging, all the participants headed over to the Castaway Restaurant and Sushi Bar for a fabulous banquet and awards ceremony with giveaways and raffles. Not to mention the presentation of awards from 1st Place/Heaviest down to 5th Place.
Team Silent Hunter – Winners!
As they announced the awards it became obvious that Team Silent Hunter were the champions of the day. With the 1st Place, 3rd Place, and 5th Place awards in the race for the heaviest mahi-mahi (or dolphin) the team carried the day. Just one more reason to make Silent Hunter your go-to for a Florida Keys fishing vacation.
We have three amazing guys to thank for the awesome win. They were all born and raised in Marathon: Ely Hernandez, BJ Meyer and Cody Darbie. They took home a check for $5000 with 29.6 lbs, $2000 with 28.2 lbs., $1000 with 21.4 lbs.
