Awesome sunset spot!
Some of the most beautiful sunsets in the Keys can be seen from this little beach tucked away in Marathon. The facilities are clean, parking is free and it’s rarely crowded.
“Sombrero Beach at Mile Marker 50 , Marathon, Florida is just the ticket! It is a very well landscaped public park that is free, has enough parking, a playground, sand volleyball courts, picnic tables, and clean bathrooms! But MOST importantly, it has a sandy beach that you can walk into, sit on and swim in! ” -Recent Review on Trip Advisor

As a turtle nesting beach, from April through October you can find Loggerhead Turtles coming on to the beach at night to lay their eggs. While Turtle nest areas are restricted during nesting periods, they represent less than 10% of beach. The remainder of the beach is open to enjoy.
